Oil Separator FAQ’s

With over 15 years experience delivering oil separator solutions to the mining industry we are able to provide you highly qualified technical support. Below are some of more regular questions we get asked about oil separators, however if you have anymore questions you can email or contact us on 1800 521 694.

Q: I am unsure which size oil separator I need.

A: Contact our experienced staff and we will work through a series of questions to determine which oil separator package is best suited to your requirements. Our oil separator units go as low as 1,000 litres per hour all the way up to 36,000 litres per hour.

Q: What do Oil Separators do?

A: Our Oil Separators are a coalescing type separator that we separate and remove oil, grease and suspended solids from your wastewater. Quick break degreasers are required to be used in conjunction with this system to maintain performance and emulsifiers should be avoided.

Q: How often do Mining Oil Separators need servicing?

A: We understand the requirements of the mining industry and have ensured that our oil separators are designed to require minimal hassle free maintenance. Exactly how often servicing is required will depend on what type and how much oil and solids you are putting through the separator unit. Under a normal mining environment it will only require a quick and easy 30 minute service to be completed every 3-12 months. Servicing is as simple as opening up 2 sludge valves and hosing down your removable separation media packs. We also have a 7 day technical support centre available to answer any questions.

Q: Are there consumables that need to be replaced

A: No there are no consumables that are required to be changed.

Q: What level of after sales support do you provide?

A: We have many long standing relationships in the mining industry and after sales support is critical to that relationship. Depending on your requirements we can provide either onsite expertise or phone assistance through our 7 day technical support centre.

Q: I have a tight budget, what is the cheapest alternative that provides the same performance?

A: We offer a range of oil separators that are constructed from polypropylene and stainless steel. As a manufacturer and leading supplier we are able to pass on our bulk buying power to you. Alternatively, you can also look at the option of oil water separators hire if it is not for a long term use.

Q: I already have an oil separator that is old and blocks regularly, but the pump is still working

A: Our oil separators can normally be used with your existing pumps. You can save yourself the cost of purchasing the entire package and just purchase the oil separator unit.

Q: Can you complete the installation for us?

A: Yes we have a team of technicians who can provide onsite installation. However to keep costs to a minimum we have designed our oil separators so that they can be easily installed onsite by a contractor or plumber, and come complete with instructions and drawings, all supported with a 7 day technical support centre
